Fraudsters began using the topic of tax deductions to obtain authorization codes from certain services. This was announced on August 13 by the press service of the Department for the Organization of combating the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

It is clarified that the attackers call on behalf of the Federal Tax Service (FTS) or the social service and inform them about the deduction. Next, they convince them to tell them the SMS code and proceed to the second stage of the scheme — the Russians are already receiving calls from alleged law enforcement officers who report hacking and financing of banned organizations.

"Most often, people aged 25-35 fall for the trick with tax deductions," the agency's press service said on the Telegram channel.

It is noted that reliable information on deductions can be obtained only on the official website of the Federal Tax Service of Russia, in the taxpayer's personal account, in his inspection of the Federal Tax Service or the MFC.

Earlier, on August 12, Roskomnadzor warned about a new two-stage fraud scheme. First, they allegedly call from the flower delivery service, demanding an SMS code to confirm the order. After that, the conversation is interrupted by a call from an imaginary Roskomnadzor employee, who warns against communicating with a fake delivery service.

Next, the victim is contacted again under the guise of department employees and informed about the allegedly stolen personal data. So, under various pretexts, the attackers persuade the victim to apply for a loan and transfer money to a "secure account".
