The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are preparing a provocation in the Kharkiv region to disrupt the Russian-American talks in Alaska. This was announced on August 12 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

"For this purpose, a group of foreign media journalists was brought to the city of Chuguev in the Kharkiv region by the SBU (Security Service of Ukraine — Ed.) on Monday, August 11, under the cover of "preparing a series of reports on residents of the city in the frontline zone," the statement said.

Presumably, the Ukrainian Armed Forces can strike densely populated neighborhoods or a hospital using missiles or drones. Reporters will have to "record" the consequences of the attack, which Kiev will blame on Moscow in order to create a negative information background before the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump.

On August 8, Trump announced a meeting with Putin in Alaska on August 15. In turn, Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov called the choice of a venue for negotiations logical. He said that the economic interests of the states intersect in the region.

Later, on August 12, White House press Secretary Caroline Leavitt announced that the Russia-US summit would be held in Anchorage. According to her, the meeting will be held in order to identify steps to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.
