In Kamchatka, the Klyuchevskaya volcano erupted, raising ash 7 km above sea level. This was announced on August 12 by the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Group (KVERT) of the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
"The explosions raised the ashes of the Klyuchevskaya volcano 7 km above sea level," follows from the publication in the Telegram channel.
It is specified that the ash plume stretches 140 km to the southwest. The volcano's activity has been recognized as dangerous for local and international air travel, and the aviation color code "orange" has been announced.
Earlier that day, the press service of the main directorate (GU) of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region reported that Klyuchevskoy had released ash at an altitude of 10 km above sea level. It was reported that the ash plume spread to the east, towards the Pacific Ocean.
