The UK is concerned that numerous statements by European leaders could harm the upcoming talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American Leader Donald Trump in Alaska. This was reported on August 12 by The Daily Telegraph newspaper, citing a source.

"They will irritate Americans, irritate Trump, if they start making demands," the source said.

Such actions can lead European countries to withdraw from the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. In addition, the newspaper cited examples of such comments made by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

It is clarified that in their statements, European leaders called on the American side not to resolve territorial issues without Ukraine and Europe and demanded that the United States allow Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to participate in the negotiation process.

In addition, the publication added that the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, in turn, refrained from making public comments and tried to promote London's position through closed conversations with leaders of other states.

On August 10, Florian Philippot, leader of the French Patriots party, commenting on a statement against direct peace talks between the presidents of the United States and the Russian Federation signed by European leaders, said that Europe's call to exert pressure on Russia demonstrates the continent's desire to continue the conflict in Ukraine.
