A delegation from the Palestinian Hamas movement has arrived in Cairo to discuss ways to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip with the Egyptian side. This was announced on August 13 by the press service of the movement.

"The delegation of the Hamas leadership, headed by Mr. Khalil al-Hayya (leader of the movement. — Ed.) arrived in Cairo to hold talks with Egyptian officials. <...>, which will begin on Wednesday (August 13. — Ed.), and will be devoted to ways to end the war in the Gaza Strip," the Telegram channel said in a statement.

Currently, as noted, representatives of Hamas, who responded to Egypt's "generous invitation" with their visit, have already begun holding preliminary discussions on the eve of the negotiations themselves.

In addition, during the talks with the Egyptian representatives, whose contribution to the ceasefire in Gaza was highly noted in the text, "general issues" around the situation in the Middle East will be raised.

On July 30, the Arab League called on Hamas to relinquish power in Gaza in order to achieve peace in the region. The next day, The Jerusalem Post (JP) reported that the movement's leaders refused to continue negotiations with Israel until the humanitarian aid situation in the enclave improved.
