During the admission campaign in 2025, the demand for technical and IT specialties increased significantly, the universities told Izvestia. For example, this year at Moscow Polytechnic University, applicants submitted twice as many applications for the Information Security of Automated Systems program as in the past.

"The specialty "Computer Science and Computer Engineering" collected about 7 thousand applications, and "Information Systems and Technologies" — almost 6 thousand," the university also noted.

Novosibirsk State University has seen the greatest increase in demand for information technology and mathematics-related fields compared to 2024. In addition, these specialties were generally among the leaders in the number of applications submitted.

RUDN University noted that the demand for engineering programs has increased significantly among applicants. So, this year, 3 thousand people indicated these areas as priorities, last year — only 1.8 thousand.
