Comprehensive rehabilitation of the Maly Chertanovsky Pond has started in Moscow. This was announced on Tuesday, August 12, by the Deputy Mayor of the capital for Housing and Communal Services and landscaping, Peter Biryukov.

He noted that the reservoir is in an unsatisfactory condition: large volumes of silt have accumulated at the bottom, the depth has decreased, active algae overgrowth has begun, and the coastline has been destroyed, Moscow 24 notes.

According to Biryukov, the pond will be completely drained to restore its regulating and drainage functions. Specialists will extract about 8 thousand cubic meters of silt deposits, and the shores with a length of more than 500 meters will be repaired by shotcrete. This technology includes dismantling the top layer of reinforcement, stripping concrete structures, installing reinforcing mesh and filling it with a cementitious mixture under pressure, which will significantly increase the strength and durability of the coastline. The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year, according to the Moscow City News Agency.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
