Seven volunteers repairing a drainage canal were killed in a landslide in Pakistan, and three others were injured. This was reported on August 12 by the South China Morning Post newspaper.

"As a result of a strong landslide that occurred on Monday morning (August 11. - Ed.), seven volunteers who were repairing a drainage channel damaged by a flash flood in northern Pakistan were killed, and three more were injured," the publication says.

According to the newspaper, the incident occurred in the city of Danior in the Gilgit-Baltistan region. Rescuers recovered the bodies of the victims, and the injured were taken to the hospital.

It is specified that the landslide occurred after flooding caused by the breakthrough of a glacial lake, which led to disruptions in traffic and trade between Pakistan and China. The newspaper's article also notes that the breakthrough of the glacial lake led to overflowing of the banks of the Hunza River, which caused a flash flood that caused damage to crops.

China Central Television (CCTV) reported on July 29 that at least eight people were killed in a landslide in Hebei Province in northern China, and four more were missing. It is clarified that the authorities have warned of the risk of repeated landslides due to heavy soil moisture and expected precipitation in the affected area.
