The bilateral meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, scheduled in Alaska, will not prevent Washington from continuing its dialogue with Kiev and its European partners. This was announced on August 12 by White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt.

"Only one side involved in this conflict will be present at the negotiations. And that's why the president will go there to get a clearer understanding of how we, <...>... We will be able to put an end to this conflict," she stressed.

Leavitt clarified that the United States intends to maintain cooperation with Ukraine and European partners.

Earlier in the day, Leavitt announced that the meeting between Putin and Trump would take place in Anchorage. According to her, the meeting between the leaders of the two countries will be held in order to identify steps to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.
