The actions of the Moldovan authorities are aimed at intimidating opposition forces and depriving citizens of the right to vote in parliamentary elections in the country. This was stated to Izvestia on August 12 by deputy of the Moldovan Parliament Vadim Fotescu at a rally in support of the head of Gagauzia Evgenia Gutsul.

"Now you and I are witnessing that the opposition is not just being brought to its knees — by our example, by banning these parties, they are showing all other opposition forces what awaits them in the future if they do not withdraw from the elections. <...> This is not just a violation of the law, it is a violation. of all ethical and political norms," Fotescu said.

According to him, such steps by the ruling party violate not only laws, but also democratic principles. Fotescu expressed confidence that the people of Moldova are tired of such pressure from local authorities.

Moldovan MP Regina Apostolova, commenting on the court's decision, said that the lawyers had already prepared an appeal. However, according to her, the judge delays completing the necessary documents and probably will not transfer the complaint to the appeals chamber.

On August 5, the head of Gagauzia, Yevgenia Gutsul, was sentenced to seven years in prison in the case of allegedly financing the Shor party. She expressed great support from the people of the autonomy and urged "not to give up." The People's Assembly of Gagauzia ruled out the intention to recognize the verdict.

On August 10, Hutsul supporters rallied in support of political prisoners at the building of prison No. 13 in Chisinau. The protesters brought flags and posters. They shouted "Freedom!" outside prison No. 13 in Chisinau. The approaches to the building were blocked by the police.

On August 12, Ilan Shor, the head of the Pobeda opposition bloc, appealed to Moldovan citizens to come out on August 16 for a peaceful protest against the actions of the authorities. A day earlier, he also called on Moldovans to come out for an indefinite rally against the actions of the authorities. According to him, many residents of the country are dissatisfied with the policy of the authorities, especially they do not like "overpaying for gas and electricity at times."
