The Russian government has updated the list of territories whose defense participants can receive the status of a combat veteran. This is reported in an order published on August 12 on the official website of the Cabinet of Ministers.
Crimea, Sevastopol, the Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk regions, the Temryuksky district of the Krasnodar Territory, as well as the municipal districts of Kantemirovsky and Rossoshansky in the Voronezh Region have been added to this list. The list also includes the cities of Anapa, Novorossiysk and Gelendzhik.
It is noted that now military personnel and volunteers who took part in the defense of the Kursk region and repelling attacks on other listed territories can receive the status of a combat veteran. In addition, soldiers who have become disabled or injured can be recognized as combat invalids.
On July 7, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law according to which participants in the special military operation in Donbas and Novorossiya will receive the status of combat veterans. The status will be granted to persons who have performed tasks during their military operations in the territories of Ukraine, the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) since February 24, 2022, as well as in the territories of the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions since September 30, 2022.
