The Ukrainian suspect in the terrorist attack fled from mobilization from Ukraine
The Ukrainian, who was detained for preparing a terrorist attack against a high-ranking employee of the Russian Defense Ministry, said during interrogation that in 2023 he fled Ukraine from mobilization and then received Russian citizenship. A video of his testimony was distributed by the FSB's Public Relations Center on August 12.
"I am a citizen of Ukraine. He came to Russia in 2023. He left Ukraine from mobilization. He received Russian citizenship," the detainee said.
He added that through an acquaintance, he contacted an employee of the special operations forces of Ukraine, who offered him documents to postpone mobilization in exchange for participation in sabotage activities.
"The task was to buy a car, buy the components of an improvised explosive device and install it in [the serviceman's] car. The explosive device was installed under the bottom under the spare wheel, the electronic part was installed in the panel under the steering wheel," he said.
According to the man, the bomb was assembled on the basis of saltpeter, and he received instructions from the curator in electronic form.
The arrest of an agent on the M-4 highway in the Rostov region became known earlier in the day. It was clarified that the person involved planned to blow up the car with 60 kg of explosives at a time when an employee of the Ministry of Defense would have passed nearby. Criminal cases have been opened against him on treason and the manufacture of explosive devices. He may be sentenced to up to life imprisonment.
