Taiwan authorities have evacuated hundreds of local residents due to typhoon Blew, which is moving towards the southeast of the island. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on August 12.

"The Taiwanese authorities have urgently evacuated hundreds of people from the area of the probable route of typhoon Podul, which is expected to hit the southeastern coast of the island," the material says.

According to forecasters, wind gusts triggered by the typhoon reach 155 km/h (43 m/s). Up to 600 mm of precipitation is also forecast in the southern mountainous regions in the next few days.

After making landfall, the storm is expected to hit the densely populated west coast, and then head for China's southern Fujian province.

Earlier, on July 20, the Hong Kong authorities announced a storm warning of the highest level due to the approach of the hurricane. About 500 flights were cancelled due to the weather conditions. Local authorities have suspended classes in schools and kindergartens. Later that day, it was reported that at least 26 people were injured due to Typhoon Vifa in Hong Kong.
