The joint military exercises of Russia and Belarus Zapad-2025 will be held from September 12 to 16. This was announced on August 12 by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Belarus.
"The topic of the exercise is 'The use of groups of troops (forces) in the interests of ensuring the military security of the Union State,'" said Major General Valery Revenko, head of the Department of International Military Cooperation at the Ministry of Defense of Belarus, quoted on the department's Telegram channel.
It is noted that the exercises are conducted to test the capabilities of the armed forces of the two countries to ensure security and "readiness to repel possible aggression."
On May 28, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin announced that the main maneuvers of the Zapad-2025 joint military exercises between Russia and Belarus were being moved deep into the territory of Belarus from the western borders. He added that the Zapad exercises have always been incomparable in scale with the maneuvers of NATO countries in the EU.
