Russian Embassy: Zaluzhny exploits divisions in Ukrainian society

The Russian Embassy in London expressed dissatisfaction with the article by the Ukrainian Ambassador to the UK, Valery Zaluzhny, accusing him of deepening disagreements in Ukrainian society and manipulating the common historical heritage in order to maintain an anti-Russian agenda. This was announced by the Russian diplomatic mission on August 7.

"The catchy 'packaging' hides only the author's desire to publicly exploit artificially erected dividing lines in current Ukrainian society, as well as shamelessly manipulate our common past in favor of the anti—Russian agenda of the Kiev authorities," the embassy said in a statement posted on the Telegram channel.

The diplomatic mission also stressed that Zaluzhny justifies the policy pursued by Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky aimed at linguistic, cultural and religious segregation in the country.

The embassy added that Zaluzhny actually confirms that after the events of 2014 in Kiev, those who decided to build a Ukrainian nation based on the denial of Russian culture and discrimination against the Russian-speaking population, as well as national minorities, came to power, which is a violation of the Constitution of Ukraine and the country's international obligations. According to Russia, these processes were one of the reasons for the start of the special operation.

In conclusion, the Russian Embassy stressed that Moscow remains open to a peaceful resolution of the conflict and is ready to work towards establishing sustainable peace, which is possible only through eliminating the roots of the crisis.
