A new meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump may take place in Russia. Thomas Graham, an honored researcher at the American Council on Foreign Relations and former special assistant to U.S. President George W. Bush on Russia and Eurasia, told Izvestia.

"If there is a second meeting, it may take place in Russia, even in Chukotka. Maybe in the Far East, maybe somewhere else. But most likely, on the territory of Russia," he said.

Earlier, Donald Trump announced a meeting with Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15.

The analyst explained why this particular place was chosen for negotiations.:

"I think they (Russia and the United States - Ed.) want to emphasize that this will be a strictly bilateral meeting between the presidents, and the United States controls the composition of the participants, which means there will be no unnecessary people," he said.
