Durov announced the blocking of many Telegram channels for extortion
This week, Telegram will block channels that distribute personal data without consent and extortion. This was announced by the founder of the messenger Pavel Durov on August 11.
"This week we are blocking numerous channels for doxing and extortion," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
Durov stressed that blocking occurs only when there is indisputable evidence that the administrators of the channel were engaged in blackmail, spreading slander, and then deleted them for the money received from the victims.
On August 5, the Department for the Organization of the Fight against the Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation reported on a new scheme of fraudsters with digital gifts in Telegram. The department called on Russians to regularly view the tab with gifts and delete suspicious ones.
