Classical and jazz music festival opens in Alupka

A festival of classical, jazz and ethnic music is taking place in the park at the Archangel Michael Church in Crimean Alupka from August 10 to 13. The event is organized by the Arkhangelsk Lad Cultural and Educational Center.

According to Bishop Nester (Donenko) of Yalta, the events were a continuation of the Phenomenon festival. "No one wanted it to end, and we decided not to postpone some of the activities," he said.

As the organizers explained, the project goes beyond a single event and will become a series of year—round events - concerts, creative meetings, workshops, film screenings and gastronomic evenings.

The evening concerts of the festival are held on the Seashell stage for free. Among the participants are pianist Arseniy Tarasevich—Nikolaev, pianist Galina Tarasevich-Nikolaeva, the double bassist Vladimir Volkov and pianist Andrei Kondakov duet with the Urban Ethno program, jazz LRK Trio, composer Grigory Tsvetkov, Sergei Filatov's Ethnosphere project, Mikhail Feyman, Pavel Romanenko, as well as the premiere of the musical and poetic duet of actress Anastasia Mikulchina and the pianist Evgeny Lebedev. The program covers a wide range of genres, from Ancient Russian chants and classics to ethno—jazz, ambient and electronic.

The literary cube, a reading space with a library of modern Russian prose, classics and children's literature, is also operating as part of the festival. The book selections were prepared with the participation of the jury of the Bolshaya Kniga and Yasnaya Polyana awards and contemporary writers.

The festival of Traditional Culture and spiritual enlightenment "Phenomenon" was held in Alupka on May 1-5. His program included more than 50 events, including concerts by Alexander F. Sklyar, Daniil Kramer, Alexey Arkhipovsky and the Ihtis Ensemble.
