Voyah named the reasons for the popularity of hybrid cars in Russia
The popularity of new energy vehicles (NEV) is explained, in particular, by word of mouth. This was reported to Izvestia by the Voyah press service.
"The word of mouth effect has worked, when people who have switched from internal combustion engine cars to electric and hybrid cars share their ownership feelings with their surroundings," said a representative of the Chinese premium brand.
He cited the acceleration dynamics and power reserve of hybrid vehicles as the strengths of the NEV segment cars.
The Voyah Free crossover became the most popular car in the NEV segment in June. The total number of registrations in July 2025 increased by 33% compared to June and amounted to 554 copies. In seven months, Free has sold 2,787 copies in Russia.
On July 7, Voyah announced the start of accepting orders for Passion EVR hybrid sedans in Russia. Car assembly at the Lipetsk Region plant will begin in the third quarter of this year.
Currently, the Voyah Passion is offered in Russia in modifications only with an all-electric power plant. At the same time, in the EVR version, the sedan is equipped with an all-wheel drive system of two electric motors (394 hp; 590 Nm) and a one-and-a-half-liter gasoline engine (129 hp), which charges a traction battery with a capacity of 43 kWh. The acceleration time to "hundreds" is 5.9 seconds. The total range of the WLTP cycle reaches 1 thousand km, and on pure electricity — 200 km.
Earlier, the analytical agency Autostat estimated that 120,649 new passenger cars were sold in Russia by the end of July 2025. This is 11.4% less than in July 2024.
Lada retains its leadership with an impressive advantage, accounting for about a quarter (23.41%) of the total volume, with 28,240 copies sold. The most popular foreign brand in July was Chery, with a circulation of 13,502 units. Haval dropped to the third place (13,117 units).
