- The State Traffic Inspectorate denied the information about increased control over stopping cars.
There are no plans to tighten control over short-term vehicle stops. This was announced on August 11 by the press service of the Russian State Traffic Inspectorate.
Earlier, information spread in the media about allegedly planned amendments to the traffic regulations, according to which control over short-term parking will be tightened. It was claimed that any stop of a vehicle with the engine turned off would be equated to parking, and in case of short-term parking in the wrong place, the driver would be held accountable.
"The State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry has no information about such initiatives. This issue is sufficiently regulated by the rules of the road," the department's Telegram channel says.
The State Traffic Inspectorate called for checking the data obtained from unofficial sources, and also reminded the rules of stopping and parking.
Earlier, on August 8, the State Traffic Inspectorate announced mass inspections of drivers on the roads. It was clarified that special attention will be paid to identifying motorists who drive a vehicle while intoxicated.
