Slovakia noted the insignificant role of Ukraine in the peaceful settlement

Ukraine will not play a special role in the peaceful settlement, since the main agreement must be reached between the Russian and American presidents. This was stated on August 11 in an interview with Izvestia by Peter Marcek, an ex-member of the Slovak Parliament.

"Personally, I believe that if there should be a reasonable, balanced agreement, compromise, it should be between President [of Russia Vladimir] Putin and [US President Donald] Trump. [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky is just a formality. He is a puppet in the hands of the European Union and the United States of America, so, in fact, he is not needed there," Marcek said.

According to the politician, it is important for Trump to understand that Russia will never agree to Kiev's joining NATO and will monitor the observance of the rights of Russian citizens living in Ukraine.

Marcek added that Slovakia and the entire European Union are suffering from the sanctions imposed on Russia, and more than Moscow itself.

"They are harming their own countries first of all, and this is illogical, both against their own people and against the economies of European countries," the Slovak politician explained.
