India is considering purchasing a fifth-generation Russian Su-57 fighter jet and an American F-35 fighter jet for its Air Force. This was reported on August 11 by The Times of India newspaper, citing a source.

"The Indian Air Force also predicts the need for two or three squadrons of fifth-generation fighters, including the Russian Su-57 and the American F-35," the publication says.

According to the newspaper, India's need for foreign aviation will continue until the production of the domestic Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) is completed by 2035. The newspaper's article also emphasizes that official negotiations have not yet begun with either Russia or the United States.

It is also noted that the Su-57 and F-35 can compete with French Rafale fighters in the procurement process — they can be purchased on the basis of an intergovernmental agreement between New Delhi and Paris.

The Italian online publication L'antidiplomatico reported on August 4 that the Russian fifth-generation Su-57 fighter surpasses even the best Western fighters in terms of performance. According to the material, if Russian fighters use Dagger missiles, even Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs) will not be able to stop them.
