On August 11, US President Donald Trump promised to free Washington from crime, filth and brutality.
"Washington, DC, will be liberated today! Crime, savage cruelty, filth and filth will disappear. I will make our capital great again," Trump wrote on the Truth Social network.
The American leader added that he quickly put things in order from illegal migrants at the border. According to him, he will then proceed to the "liberation" of the District of Columbia.
Earlier in the day, the Reuters news agency reported that the US Army plans to deploy hundreds of National Guard troops in Washington. It was noted that the final decision will be made by the President of the United States.
Prior to that, on August 5, Trump proposed taking Washington under federal control to combat the growing crime rate. He noted that many criminals are confident of their impunity due to their young age.
