- Shor accused the Prime Minister of Moldova of intimidating the judge in the case of the head of Gagauzia
Judge Anna Kucherescu, who sentenced the head of Gagauzia, Evgenia Gutsul, to seven years in prison, is being intimidated by people under the leadership of Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Rechan. This was announced on August 10 by the leader of the opposition bloc "Victory" Ilan Shor.
"Judge Kucherescu, who sentenced Evgenia Hutsul and Svetlana Popan, is being intimidated. I checked — people under Rechan's leadership are doing this to denigrate us," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
Shor added that he would send a petition demanding to provide the judge with protection to the Prosecutor General's Office of Moldova. According to him, Cucirescu is important as a witness to the crimes of members of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), created by President Maia Sandu in 2016.
Earlier, on August 5, Hutsul was sentenced to seven years in prison in the case of allegedly financing the Shor party. She expressed great support from the people of the autonomy and urged "not to give up." The People's Assembly of Gagauzia ruled out the intention to recognize the verdict.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in turn, called on international structures to assess this verdict. Later, on August 10, Vadim Fotescu, a member of the Moldovan parliamentary group Pobeda, called the verdict illegal and politically motivated.
On August 10, Hutsul supporters rallied in support of political prisoners at the building of prison No. 13 in Chisinau. The protesters brought flags and posters. They shouted "Freedom!" outside the building of prison No. 13 in Chisinau. The approaches to the building were blocked by the police.
