A city in Dagestan was left without water due to a lightning strike
In Dagestan, a lightning strike in Kaspiysk damaged the power supply to a pumping station providing water to Izberbash, and the city was left without water. This was announced on August 11 by JSC "Unified Operator of the Republic of Dagestan in the field of water supply and sanitation."
"On the night of August 10-11, an explosion occurred as a result of a lightning strike at the Kirov substation in Kaspiysk. Feeder No. 25, which provides power to the pumping station of the first lift (HC-1), was damaged," the department's Telegram channel says.
As a result of the accident, the station was completely de-energized, and the water supply to Izberbash was suspended. Emergency repair work is currently underway to replace damaged equipment and resume power supply to the plant.
Earlier, on July 19, it was reported that a shepherd and several animals were killed in the Shailyk-Syrt tract in Karachay-Cherkessia as a result of a lightning discharge. It is specified that the prosecutor's office of the republic has taken control of the establishment of the circumstances of the incident.
