The Russian government will reduce the time for reviewing an application for maternity capital to five days. This was announced on August 11 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

"We have made a number of changes to the rules of his (maternity) capital. — Ed.) provision. In order to receive the funds of the parent capital, it would be faster and easier, here we will halve the period of consideration of the application for its use from 10 to five working days," Mishustin said at an operational meeting.

He also added that the processing time for requests will be reduced to 12 days instead of 20 days. According to him, it is important that parents have more time for their children, rather than for paperwork.

On August 8, Yaroslav Nilov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs, sent a bill to the Russian government in which he proposed increasing the amount of maternity capital to 1 million rubles for the first child.
