US President Donald Trump has ordered the portraits of former American leaders Barack Obama, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush to be moved to a closed part of the White House. This was reported on August 11 by CNN, citing sources.

"Trump instructed the staff to move the portrait of Obama to the top of the Grand Staircase, <...> where it will now be hidden from the thousands of visitors who visit the White House every day," it follows from the material.

As CNN notes, such an action on the part of the current head of state only underscores the long-standing tension in relations between the 44th and 47th presidents. Earlier, Trump accused Obama and members of his administration of treason during the 2016 election.

According to the TV channel, the portraits of the Bushes were also moved to a part of the presidential residence where access to visitors to the White House is restricted. CNN emphasizes that there are also disagreements in Trump's relationship with the Bush family. For example, George W. Bush and his wife were only at Trump's inauguration ceremony in 2025, but he did not participate in subsequent events.

In addition, according to sources, the American president personally controls the changes that occur in the interior of the White House.

As reported by "Gazeta.According to the protocol, portraits of the last heads of state should be located in visible places at the entrance so that guests and tourists can see them during official meetings.

Earlier, on July 2, Trump's portrait was replaced in the Colorado State Capitol after the American leader called it a "deliberately distorted version." It was clarified that the new portrait was painted by an artist from Arizona, Vanessa Horabuena. According to the newspaper, the previous image of the American president was removed from the Capitol in March 2025 after his complaints.

On June 3, the White House officially announced a new portrait of Trump. Then it was reported that the painting has a dark background without the American flag in the background. Also, the color of the president's tie has been changed from blue to red.
