Vandals painted over the memorial sign "Pushkin's Shadow" at the intersection of Deribasovskaya and Richelevskaya streets in Odessa. This was reported on August 11 by the Ukrainian newspaper Dumskaya.

The footage published by the publication in the Telegram channel shows that the memorial sign has been painted over. There is also an information plaque on the sidewalk tile where Pushkin's Shadow is located, notifying that the utility company is carrying out work on "space reorganization." The completion date is set for August 12. However, it is not specified what the "reorganization" means and whether the memorial sign will be completely destroyed.

"Pushkin's Shadow" was opened back in 2013. The installation is a silhouette of a human figure, which is about 3 m in size. The idea to depict Alexander Pushkin in grotesque features belonged to Oleg Gubar.

Earlier, on May 9, in Odessa, vandals tore down a plaque on the monument to Soviet Marshal Rodion Malinovsky, under whose command the city was liberated from German occupation on April 10, 1944. It was clarified that unknown masked men recorded their illegal actions on video.
