The issue of the Zangezur corridor has been completely removed from the agenda, since this transit road is under the sovereignty of Armenia. This was announced on August 11 by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.

"The issue of the [Zangezur] corridor has been completely put aside. We are talking about a transit road that will be created under the authority of Armenia and managed by a joint American-Armenian company also registered in Armenia," Araqchi wrote on his Telegram channel.

In addition, he noted that this route takes into account the requirements of the Islamic Republic, and also pointed out that the participation of an American company in the project is cause for concern. Araqchi added that any foreign presence in the region could negatively affect peace and stability.

Advisor to Iran's Supreme leader Ali Akbar Velayati said on August 9 that Tehran had protested against the creation of a corridor through Armenia, supported by US President Donald Trump, which would connect Azerbaijan with Nakhichevan. He noted that the implementation of the plan to create the corridor jeopardizes the security of the South Caucasus and Iran will act to ensure this security.

On July 14, the US Ambassador to Turkey, the special envoy of the American president for Syria, Tom Barrack, announced his readiness to manage the Zangezur corridor for 100 years. On July 16, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan confirmed that Yerevan had received a proposal from Washington to manage a transport corridor between the territories of Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Prior to that, on June 21, Pashinyan announced that the Zangezur Corridor project would cease to exist in the country, and a "Crossroads of the World" would appear instead. The Prime Minister noted that he sees no reason why representatives of Turkey and Azerbaijan should not travel around Armenia. According to him, the "Crossroads of the World" implies the possibility of transport transit.
