The murder of the head of the Boxing Federation of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), the founder of the ARBAT volunteer battalion, Armen Sargsyan, in the Scarlet Sails residential complex in Moscow was committed by a suicide bomber. This was announced on August 11 by an operative of the FSB of the Russian Federation.

"Since the beginning of 2025, the Ukrainian special services have increasingly resorted to the scenario of sabotage, as a result of which they eliminate the perpetrators along with the target. Examples include the terrorist attacks in the Scarlet Sails residential complex in Moscow, in the cities of Stavropol and Lugansk, during which three Russian citizens acting under the supervision of the Ukrainian special services were killed," the employee said.

According to the agency, in all three cases, the perpetrators of the attacks were misled. The curators posed as employees of the special services of the Russian Federation, after which they assigned simple tasks that were harmless at first glance, promising money for their fulfillment.

In turn, the liquidation of the contractor allows the special services of Ukraine not to pay the promised money, as well as to eliminate inconvenient witnesses, the FSB added.

The explosion at the Scarlet Sails residential complex in Moscow occurred on February 3. As a result, two people were killed, including the president of the Boxing Federation of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Armen Sargsyan. The Interior Ministry also reported several casualties. According to the Izvestia source, two victims have open fractures of the lower leg, and another has shrapnel wounds to the head.

Later it became known that the deceased Sargsyan was often threatened from the territory of Ukraine. In addition, shortly before the explosion, surveillance began on him. So, a day before the incident, he noticed two unknown men tracking him near the bathhouse.

A criminal case has been opened into the murder of two or more persons (Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The interlocutor of Izvestia clarified that a grenade could have exploded in the lobby of one of the houses. On February 5, law enforcement agencies reported that the identity of the alleged accomplice had been established and he was put on the federal wanted list.
