A man was detained in the Amur region for attempting to set fire to a relay cabinet.

Employees of the Office of the Federal Security Service (FSB) in the Amur region detained a man who tried to set fire to a relay cabinet on the railway. This was announced on August 11 by the press service of the department.

It is specified that the suspect contacted representatives of a terrorist organization from Ukraine and agreed to complete the task for a monetary reward. His communication with the curator took place on the WhatsApp messenger (part of Meta, the organization is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

A criminal case has been opened against him under Part 1 of Article 30, Part 1 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Preparation for a crime and attempted crime" and "Sabotage"). Currently, the court has chosen a preventive measure for the man in the form of detention.

The person involved in the case may face up to 20 years in prison.

On August 8, two teenagers were detained in Krasnodar for setting fire to a transport infrastructure facility at a railway station. The Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation is investigating a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist act"). The suspects gave statements in which they confessed to the crime.
