During the fire at Crocus City Hall, the police officers who were there managed to watch the video of the terrorist attack on the concert hall. This later helped to apprehend the criminals. This is stated in the materials of the criminal case on Monday, August 11.
"At the scene of the incident, the chief of police of Krasnogorsk ordered subordinates to urgently proceed to the server room to view the videos in order to establish escape routes for criminals until a fire appeared in the room. While watching the videos, the perpetrators of the crime and the number of the car in which they fled (a white Renault car with a black roof with state registration plates of the Tver region) were identified in hot pursuit," TASS quoted the documents on the case.
This information made it possible to trace the criminals' path out of the building, which eventually led to their arrest. In addition, as reported in the case file, the police managed to take out of the Crocus a backpack and unloading belonging to the criminals and abandoned by them in the fire.
It is reported that one of the building's security officers took the terrorists' machine gun out of the concert hall. These items became physical evidence, which as a result played a role in the capture of criminals and were attached to the case.
Earlier, Lyudmila Aivar, a lawyer for 125 victims of the terrorist attack in Crocus, said that the 2nd Western District Military Court extended the arrest of the defendants in the case for five months.
The terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall took place on March 22, 2024. Terrorists in camouflage broke into the building of the concert hall, started shooting and set fire to the premises. As a result of the incident, 149 people were killed, 609 were injured and injured in various degrees of severity, and one person was missing.
