The calculation of the TOS-1A group "Center" destroyed the fortified area of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The calculation of the upgraded heavy flamethrower system TOS-1A of the Center group of forces destroyed the fortified area of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Red Army area of the special military operation (SVO). This was announced on August 11 by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

It is specified that when receiving accurate coordinates from the operators of reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), the military personnel of the calculation promptly took up a firing position. Using an automated fire control system, the soldiers of the Russian Army fired thermobaric rockets at the firing points of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"We arrive at the firing position, and within 30-40 seconds we are ready to fire. The firing system has already been set up, the car is set in the right direction, the gunner starts aiming without unnecessary commands, the driver already knows in advance how to get up, where the target is, and the crew does the work without any commands. It turns out that the guidance time is very short," said Evgeny Sarychev, commander of the TOS—1A combat vehicle.

Thanks to an accurate hit on the target, recorded in real time by drone operators, the reinforcement of the Ukrainian military was destroyed.

Sarychev spoke about the advantages of a combat flamethrower system.

"The advantages of the vehicle are in the ballistics of ammunition, the vehicle shoots more than 20 km, which makes it possible to protect the lives of the crew without approaching such close distances to the line of combat contact, as before. Also, the fire guidance system has been improved in this machine, that is, the commander on this machine can perform all the functions of a gunner ... <...> The machine is faster and more maneuverable in terms of speed, and we work for various purposes... <...> The machine shows itself well both when working on some buildings and structures, and covers forest belts well.", — said the commander of the TOS-1A.

According to the Ministry of Defense, during the mission, the combat vehicle was covered by military personnel of the enemy's UAV counteraction group, who closely monitored the airspace during the calculation.

"Just when we are already arriving for a combat mission, <...> we are examining it in detail again. <...> We are standing close enough to the shooting site, armed with machine guns and rifles in case any UAVs pose a danger," explained Alexander Filimonov, the senior patrol group.

Earlier, on August 9, the gunners of the Russian Armed Forces destroyed the dugouts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Zaporozhye area of the SVR. Artillery crews of the 35th Combined Arms army attacked the positions of Ukrainian formations, the coordinates of which were established using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
