The ash discharge to a height of more than 12 km occurred from the Klyuchevskaya volcano in Kamchatka. This was announced on August 11 by the press service of the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in the Kamchatka Territory.

"On the morning of August 11, an ash discharge from the Klyuchevsky volcano was recorded at a height of up to 12 thousand meters with the height of the giant itself being 4.75 thousand meters," the ministry said.

It is noted that the volcano was assigned a "red" aviation hazard code. The ash plume is heading east from Klyuchevsky, towards the Pacific Ocean. The settlements of Ust-Kamchatsk and Krutoberegovo are located along its route, where ash may fall in small quantities.

At the same time, there is currently no ashfall, the Ministry of Emergency Situations noted.

A day earlier, Klyuchevskoy made an ash release to a height of up to 10 km. The volcano was also assigned a "red" aviation hazard code.

On August 3, 10 significant earthquakes were recorded in Kamchatka, and more than 65 earthquakes occurred in just one day. The next day, the situation repeated itself: seven significant earthquakes occurred during the day. On August 9, it was reported that 43 aftershocks were recorded in the Kamchatka Territory after the earthquake.
