- The State Duma will consider the possibility of lowering the age for joining parties to 16.
The State Duma will consider lowering the minimum age for joining a political party in Russia to 16 years. The corresponding bill was introduced by Yaroslav Nilov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs, along with a group of other deputies.
"Currently, Russian citizens who have reached the age of 18 can be members of the party. The bill proposes to lower the age limit for joining political parties to 16," TASS reported on August 11.
It is noted that the initiative is proposed to be implemented by amending the law on Political Parties. According to the authors of the idea, the bill will help to achieve greater involvement of young people in the political life of the country.
The deputies also stressed that from the age of 16, a citizen can already enter into an employment contract or be held administratively and criminally liable.
"The proposed change will also allow persons over the age of 16 who are actively involved in the activities of political parties today to have the legal status of a member of a political party," Nilov said.
On August 9, Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin proposed discussing the abolition of homework for schoolchildren, citing the excessive burden on students. He noted that artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and the search for ready-made answers on the Internet make homework often meaningless. The politician stressed that homework can be more productive if it is exploratory and creative.
