Karasin revealed the opponents of the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine
The EU and NATO will oppose reaching agreements on the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, Grigory Karasin, head of the Federation Council's International Affairs Committee, told Izvestia.
"The Europeans and NATO members have chosen for themselves the stereotype of unacceptability of a strong Russia, that is, they want to trample us. They will question all agreements aimed at a constructive way out of the Ukrainian crisis, will oppose them and hinder progress. We need to get used to this and calmly implement what corresponds to common sense. I hope that this meeting will bring this result," Karasin told Izvestia.
The head of the Federation Council's International Affairs committee noted that the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump is completely contrary to the intentions of the European Union and NATO, and in this regard, they will convene the councils of these associations in the coming days.
Recall that the first face-to-face talks between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump since 2019 are scheduled for Alaska on August 15.
The United States, as well as Hungary and Slovakia, despite their membership in NATO, are taking steps to restore dialogue with Russia. At the same time, most of the alliance intends to continue putting pressure on Moscow.
