The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) attacked Al Jazeera TV channel journalist Anas al-Sharif, who was in Gaza City and allegedly was an undercover terrorist. This was announced on August 10 by the press service of the department in the Telegram channel.

"Recently, in the city of Gaza, the IDF attacked terrorist Anas al-Sharif, posing as a journalist for the Al Jazeera TV channel," the publication says.

According to the publication, the journalist allegedly headed a terrorist cell of the Palestinian Hamas movement and was responsible for rocket attacks on Israeli military and civilians. The IDF experts came to these conclusions after studying the documents found in the Gaza Strip.

"These documents once again confirm his involvement in terrorist activities, from which the Al Jazeera TV channel is trying to dissociate itself," the Israeli army said.

Before the strike, the IDF took measures to minimize damage to the civilian population of the Palestinian enclave. Additional data collection was carried out, as well as aerial surveillance. The firing was carried out using high-precision ammunition.

On August 8, Axios journalist Barak Ravid reported that the Israeli Security Cabinet had approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's decision to occupy Gaza City, located in the enclave of the same name.

Earlier, on August 7, an Israeli drone attack near the Lebanese-Syrian border killed five people. It is noted that 10 more were injured as a result of the attack.
