The United States is seeking a settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, taking into account the current line of military contact. This was announced on August 10 by American Vice President J. D. Vance.

"If we take the current line of contact between Russia and Ukraine, we will try to reach a settlement with which both Russians and Ukrainians could live relatively peacefully," he said in an interview with Fox News.

According to him, US President Donald Trump wants to end the financing of the Ukrainian crisis and achieve a peaceful settlement. Vance stressed that Americans are tired of continuing to spend money and taxes on the conflict.

At the same time, the American vice president clarified that Washington would not prevent Europeans from purchasing weapons from US manufacturers for transfer to Ukraine.

Earlier, on August 9, retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis stressed the change in the US approach to the Ukrainian conflict under the Trump administration. According to him, now Washington does not insist on the participation of the Kiev regime in a peaceful settlement. He also noted that the resolution of the conflict will also take place without the participation of Europe.

Prior to that, The Wall Street Journal reported on an alleged "large-scale proposal" for the United States from Russia to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. It was clarified that the plan consists of two stages — Kiev's acceptance of territorial concessions and their international recognition in exchange for a cease-fire, as well as the approval by Washington and Moscow of a peace treaty, which will subsequently be signed by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
