Arab tribal militias shelled two settlements in the province of Al-Suwayda.
Arab tribal formations shelled two settlements in the province of Al-Suwayda in Syria. This was announced on August 10 by Sham TV.
It is noted that the militia fired heavy machine guns at residential buildings in the town of Kharsa and the village of Vakam. They entered rural areas north of the administrative center of Al-Suwayda (90 km from Damascus) and burned down several houses there. At the same time, the Druze self-defense forces retaliated against their positions.
On July 19, Syrian Transitional President Ahmed al-Sharaa ordered the immediate introduction of a ceasefire in the province of Suwayda, and security forces were deployed in several areas to ensure its implementation. The President warned that actions contrary to this order would be considered a violation of Syria's sovereignty.
On the same day, the US Special Representative for Syria, Tom Barrack, announced that Israel and Syria had reached a ceasefire agreement with the support of Washington. He also noted that the United States is calling on the Druze, Bedouins and Sunnis to lay down their arms in order to build a "new unified Syrian identity."
Later, on August 3, it was reported that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) took control of a site in the province of Quneitra in southern Syria and turned one of the captured buildings into its new outpost.
