This was stated on August 10 by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in an interview with the ARD channel.

"We hope for a breakthrough on August 15th. First of all, to finally have a cease-fire. And the possibility of peace talks in Ukraine," the Tagesschau TV channel writes with reference to the Chancellor.

Merz also shared plans to hold a telephone conversation with Trump on Sunday, August 10.
