British actress Emma Thompson has told how she refused US President Donald Trump a date even before he began his political career. The Telegraph newspaper writes about this on August 10.

"I could go on a date with Donald Trump, and then I would have something to tell. I could change the course of American history," Thompson said, speaking at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland.

The 66-year-old actress said that Trump invited her to dinner on the day of her divorce from actor Kenneth Branna in 1995.

"He said: "I would really like you to stay in one of my beautiful places. Maybe we could have dinner." I replied: "Well, that's very nice. Thank you very much. I'll call you back," Thompson said.

The publication noted that around that time, Trump broke up with his second wife, Marla Maples. He also expanded his real estate empire to include numerous buildings in the heart of New York City.

The third wife of the American leader, Melania Trump, according to the owner of the White House, deserved the praise of Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to Trump, Putin said that everyone likes the first lady of the United States more than the American leader himself.
