A criminal case has been opened in St. Petersburg over the sinking of the sea tugboat Captain Ushakov. This was announced on August 10 by the Western Interregional Investigative Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
The criminal case is being investigated under Part 1 of Article 216 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of safety rules during construction and other work"). It was established that the emergency occurred on the evening of August 8 during construction work on the tugboat, which belongs to the Yaroslavl Shipyard. The Captain Ushakov was moored to the berth at the Baltic Shipyard.
"There was a roll of the ship to starboard. As a result of the incident, the vessel partially sank in the waters of the Bolshaya Nevka River. There are no casualties," the department's Telegram channel says.
The amount of damage is estimated at more than 1 million rubles. Investigators continue to establish the circumstances of the incident.
A day earlier, a source from Izvestia reported that in St. Petersburg, the tugboat Captain Ushakov, moored at the Baltic Sea pier, began to sink. At first, the ship began to list, after which it lay sideways on the water.
