The Moscow authorities are attracting investors to develop a network of commercial charging complexes for electric vehicles. According to Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, following the auctions, investors "will be able to place charging complexes in a simplified manner on land plots for up to 10 years with the possibility of extension."

In turn, the city will approve the technical requirements, standard of service and appearance of the electric charging complexes, the mayor wrote in his Telegram channel.

"The equipment must be compatible with the city's digital system,— Sobyanin said. "This will allow monitoring the operation of the stations, and drivers will be able to find and book available charging stations."

In addition to the charging stations themselves, each complex will be supplemented with non-stationary shops and cafes. The contract may be terminated in case of system violations, for example, due to non-compliance with the required level of service. This innovation "will become a promising activity for urban businesses, as well as stimulate further electrification of personal and commercial vehicles," the mayor noted.

Since the end of July, all charging stations of the Moscow Energy project have become chargeable. When announcing this measure, the metropolitan Transportation Authority announced that an average market tariff would be introduced. The pilot project at city stations has been in operation for almost five years, during which time users have completed more than 1 million free charging sessions.

The introduction of payment will allow the installation of 500 "fast" electric charging stations (EPPS) annually, the department noted. In addition, this should increase the investment attractiveness of the project, lead to an increase in the pace of development of the EHS network and an increase in the quality of service, the deptrans said. They also recalled that benefits for owners of electric vehicles will continue to apply in Moscow: exemption from paying transport tax and the opportunity to use city parking for free.
