Neither Europe nor the Ukrainian authorities want the conflict to end. Their main goal will be to disrupt or devalue the negotiations between Russia and the United States. This was announced on August 9 by British analyst Alexander Mercuris on his YouTube channel.

"[Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky does not want the conflict to end, at least on the terms that Moscow and Washington can offer him, and in this he has already received support from his British and European friends," the expert said.

Mercuris added that the European Union (EU) and Ukraine will put up serious resistance due to their unwillingness to make concessions.

On August 9, the leader of the French Patriots party, Florian Philippot, noted that Zelensky was looking for excuses to abandon a possible peace agreement even before the meeting of the leaders of the Russian Federation and the United States took place.

On August 8, American leader Donald Trump announced a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15. The US president noted that details about the upcoming negotiations will be published later. Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov called the choice of a venue for negotiations logical. He said that the economic interests of the states intersect in the region. There are prospects for joint projects in Alaska.
