European countries, following Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, are not aware of the real state of affairs in the conflict in Ukraine, which only hinders negotiations. This was stated by Polish political scientist Adam Wilomski on the social network X on Saturday, August 9.

"Great Britain, France, Germany and Ukraine have put forward an alternative plan to end the conflict. If you do not look at the reports from the front and study only the proposed plan, then you might think that if Ukraine has not already won, then it has clearly not lost," he wrote.

According to him, such a perception is nothing more than a distortion of reality. Vilomsky stressed that US President Donald Trump should ignore the position of European leaders and negotiate with Russian President Vladimir Putin on his own.

Earlier in the day, The New York Times reported that representatives of the European Union (EU) and Ukraine, on the eve of the talks between Putin and Trump, demanded security guarantees from the United States for Kiev, as well as the opportunity to join NATO.

On August 10, NBC reported that the White House was considering inviting Zelensky to a meeting between Trump and Putin in Alaska. The discussions on the issue have not been completed yet. Therefore, it remains unclear whether Zelensky will eventually attend the meeting of the presidents.

On August 9, the leader of the French Patriots party, Florian Philippot, noted that Zelensky was looking for excuses to abandon a possible peace agreement even before the meeting of the leaders of the Russian Federation and the United States took place.

On August 8, Trump announced a meeting with Putin in Alaska on August 15. The US president noted that details about the upcoming negotiations will be published later. Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov called the choice of a venue for negotiations logical. He said that the economic interests of the states intersect in the region. There are prospects for joint projects in Alaska.
