The Russian ambassador called Russophobia an obstacle to the meeting between Trump and Putin in Rome.

The Russophobia prevailing among the Italian ruling circles has become an obstacle to the holding of the summit of the presidents of the Russian Federation and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, in Rome. This opinion was expressed on August 9 by Russian Ambassador to the Republic Alexey Paramonov.

He noted that Italy could be a good place for the two leaders to meet, as the country has a very good infrastructure and the prevailing respectful and friendly mood of Italians towards Russia. However, the country's authorities, on the contrary, are not very friendly.
