The Russian Foreign Ministry warned of the consequences of the expansion of Israel's military operation in Gaza.

The Russian Foreign Ministry expressed concern over the Israeli-approved plan to expand military operations in the Gaza Strip, warning of a possible worsening of the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian enclave. The corresponding statement was published on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"The implementation of such decisions and plans, which provoke condemnation and rejection, is fraught with the aggravation of the already extremely dramatic situation in the Palestinian enclave, which has all the signs of a humanitarian catastrophe," the statement said.

According to the statement, it is expected that in the near future all civilians of the enclave will be forcibly expelled. The Russian Foreign Ministry stressed that such actions would significantly complicate international efforts to de-escalate the conflict, leading to serious negative consequences for the entire Middle East region.

"Russia confirms its unwavering position on the need for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the release of all hostages and detainees, as well as the restoration of unhindered humanitarian access," the Russian Foreign Ministry added.

In addition, it is clarified that Moscow insists on resolving the Palestinian problem on an international legal basis with the creation of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
