An unexploded 500 kg World War II-era aerial bomb found during the construction of a residential complex has been defused in Belgrade. This was reported by the RTS TV channel.

"The extraction, transportation and destruction work was carried out by the staff of the Unexploded Ordnance Protection Team of the Emergency Sector with the support of the Belgrade, Pancevo and Kovin police departments," the statement said.

According to the TV channel, at the beginning of the year, the Department for Protection from Explosive Remnants of War received 192 reports of the discovery of weapons. Specialized teams visited the site 125 times, seizing and destroying 427 units of various ammunition and explosive materials.

On August 6, a World War II bomb was defused in Dresden, which caused the evacuation of 17,000 residents. It was clarified that part of the city center was evacuated for the work. Temporary accommodation was arranged for local residents at the Dresden Exhibition Center.
