There are 31 injured people in hospitals after the incident at the Caustic plant in Sterlitamak, 14 of them in serious condition. This was announced on August 9 by Assistant Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Alexey Kuznetsov.
"Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko took personal control of the provision of assistance to victims of the accident at the Sterlitamak plant. According to operational data, 31 victims are in hospitals, 14 of them in serious condition," Kuznetsov said, quoted by TASS.
The Assistant Minister of Health also clarified that serious injuries are currently being evacuated to Ufa medical institutions and the university clinic of Bashkir State Medical University. Ambulance helicopters are involved in the operation. Medical assistance to the victims is provided in full, Kuznetsov concluded.
The pop of the gas-air mixture occurred earlier in the day. According to the latest data, 36 people were injured in the incident, no children among them. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Bashkortostan clarified that 15 people were evacuated from the building. A check was organized on the fact of cotton. A criminal case has been opened.
Later, BSK JSC reported that the cause of the explosion of the gas-air mixture at the Caustic plant was the depressurization of the pipeline in preparation for repair work. The damaged pipeline was equipped with an automatic valve shut-off system. This contributed to the rapid localization of the incident.
