Aeroflot warned about cancellations of flights to Sochi and Gelendzhik due to restrictions

Aeroflot is forced to adjust the flight schedule of its aircraft due to time restrictions at Sochi and Gelendzhik airports. As the carrier's press service warned on August 9, some of them may be canceled altogether.

"Due to the time restrictions imposed on August 8 and 9 for the departure and arrival of aircraft at Sochi and Gelendzhik airports, Aeroflot is making forced schedule adjustments, including by canceling individual flights," the Aeroflot Telegram channel said.

Passengers are asked to make a refund or rebook tickets for other dates. Rossiya Airlines also adjusted flights for the same reason. The contact centers of both airlines are operating in an enhanced mode, all changes are reflected on the online scoreboard at the departure airports.

It will not be easy to achieve compensation for moral damage — a large-scale failure may be recognized as force majeure.

Temporary restrictions were introduced at Sochi airport earlier on August 8. Similar measures were taken in the Gelendzhik airport. Later that day, an official representative of the Federal Air Transport Agency announced that restrictions on the reception and release of aircraft at Sochi Airport had been lifted. During the period of their operation, 17 aircraft were sent to alternate airfields. Gelendzhik Airport also started operating in the same mode.
